Municipality of Bay Affirms Valuing Heroes’ Sacrifices for Independence

Bayeños Highlight Historic Commemoration of 125th Philippine Independence Day

In celebration of the annual nationwide event, Municipality of Bay held a solemn program for the 125th Philippine Independence Day, June 12 at Bay Municipal grounds with different local government agencies like PNP, DepEd, MSWD, MDRRMO and the whole Bay community to show respect to the sacrifices of all our national heroes.

Councilor Cesar D. Comia said in his opening remarks, “Dapat nating isabuhay ang pagbubuwis buhay ng ating mga bayani upang makita na dapat tayo ay mabuhay ng malaya.”

Afterwards, Mayor Jose O. Padrid reminded everyone in his speech specially the youth who sometimes forget the importance of our independence to value and use it for the benefit of the country and countrymen. He also thanked all the officials and personnel of different local government agencies who participated and continuously show support to the Municipality of Bay.

One of the highlights of the program was the “Huling Parangal sa Watawat ng Pilipinas” or “The Final Honors for the Philippine Flag”. The flag burial rite is accordance to Republic Act No. 8491

which states that worn-out flags “shall not be thrown away” but shall be solemnly burned to avoid misuse or desecration. The Philippine Flag as the nation’s greatest symbol, deserves to be disposed with honor and utmost respect. It is the first time that Municipality of Bay conducted  flag burial rite in the celebration of Independence Day.  Mayor Padrid led the ceremony together with Atty. Joanna R. Padrid, Municipal Administrator; SF04 Jose Elvin Lajato, Acting Municipal Fire Marshall- Bay Fire Station; PMAJ Vanessa Boncodin, Officer in Charge- Bay MPS and other uniformed personnel.

 

Another highlight of the event was the awarding of certificate of recognition to the barangay tourist officials who became part of the Cultural Inventory of Bay. Among the recipients of the awards were Mrs. Myra Lorica of Brgy. San Agustin, Mr. Eddrine Paul Papa and Mr. Eddniel Patrick Papa of Brgy. San Antonio.

The program ended through a short parade of all participants from Bay Municipal grounds going to the statue of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, situated on a national road of Dila at the center of two roads (going to San Pablo and Sta. Cruz) to offer flowers for our national hero.
